OUR TEAM
Blake Alley
N5BAAHi, I'm Blake, a 22-year-old electrical engineering student, technical producer, camera op, remote pilot, and ham radio general based in Sugar Land, TX. I've been a member of the Brazos Valley Amateur Radio Club since March 2024. Industrial automation hardware, power distribution, and lighting design are my professional specialties.
Aiden Montoya
N1CLAHey, I'm Aiden, a 22-year-old Information Systems senior with interests in Networking, System Administration, and various computer-related fields. Outside of academics, I work in the Service Department at Audi and am also a Live Production Team Lead. A fun fact about me is I have competed in league bowling! I am also a member of the Brazos Valley Amateur Radio Club along side Blake and Terry!
Julia Tsai
PENDINGHi, I'm Julia. After I earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of North Texas, I've worked in several non-STEM fields for the past 5+ years. My lifelong passion for computers and programming drew me back to school, where I'm now a first-year student in HCU's cyber engineering program. When I heard that Terry was going to start an amateur radio club on campus, I jumped at the opportunity to learn a tried-and-true skill, especially if other forms of communication aren't available.
Benjamin Holcomb
PENDINGHi, I'm Ben, a senior electrical engineering student. I have previous knowledge in aerospace engineering and like keeping up with the field in my spare time. I love connecting the two disciplines and am interested in the inclusion of aerospace-related projects in the club, such as balloon and rocket launches. Automation and control systems fascinate me, and I have experience with PLCs and microcontrollers.
Terry Leatherland
K5PGFHi, I'm Terry. I've been a ham radio operator since my youth, when I was the youngest HAM in Georgia. After graduating from the University of Alabama in 1972, where I served as president of the UA Amateur Radio Club, I built a career in tech with 25 years at HP and recently retired as a Systems Engineer at IBM. I operate from my home in Sugar Land, Texas with a Yaesu FTDX10 and stealth antennas that keep my HOA happy. I'm an active member of the Brazos Valley Amateur Radio Club and support emergency operations through the Fort Bend County Emergency Radio Operators Group.
